Plant Retail Manager – Windser

£22-£24k

permanent

5 out of 7 days rota including some weekends

40hrs a week

We are looking for a passionate Planteria Manager to lead an award winning garden centre at Dorney Court.

Summary of the role:

Responsible for effective running of the department ensuring the business is an inspirational and exciting retail destination. Deliver excellent levels of customer service in conjunction with effective stock management and merchandising and display standards. Deliver budgetted sales and profit for the department.

Duties of the successful Manager will involve:

Understand the financial management of the department, with a strong knowledge of sales and profit performance. Ensure correct invoice and supplier management.
Manage stock across the department.
Ensure that retail space is always well-stocked and that inbound/outbound stock and 'click and collect' are managed effectively and within the agreed stock management processes.
Order stock supplies from approved suppliers as required.
Resolve customer queries in the department and escalate to General manager if necessary
Ensure secure till operations and cash handling
Implement appropriate merchandising, pricing/bar-coding and display of all goods ensuring that all products are of merchantable quality
Manage staffing levels appropriately ensuring adequate staff cover at all times during business hours for the department. Identify and co-ordinate staff development or training needs in conjunction with General manager.
Conduct yearly performance reviews and encourage performance feedback.The ideal candidate must have:

Horticultural experience whether that is in the form of a horticultural qualification and/or experience working on a plant nursery/ garden centre or similar environment would be advantageous
A proven track record in managing a plant area is essential.
A passion for people and plants.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to be firm but fair.
A good understanding of computer operations including word, email and excel.
Good organisational skills have a methodical approach with an eye for detail.
