We are looking for a Biomass Engineers to join our Biomass Boiler Team located across our Biomass plants in Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire on a FTC for 12 months.

Purpose of the role
To optimise Biomass plant efficiency, and minimise plant downtime through effective preventative maintenance, efficient breakdown response in specific areas of the plant whilst maintaining a safe and healthy environment and promoting good engineering practices.
Your key responsibilities will include:
• Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one area of the Biomass plant or lower tier of Multi-Skilled Engineer framework.
• Ensure the Engineering maintenance carried out in line with the schedule and effective and efficient corrective action is taken.
• Quick and effective response to breakdowns in more than one area on site, where possible identifying root cause and suggesting possible improvements to prevent further breakdowns occurring.
• Communicate unscheduled breakdowns to the Biomass manager/senior leadership team.
• Follow good engineering standards and good hygiene practices for the department.
• Ensure all activities are carried out within company and legislative health and safety guidelines, highlighting possible areas of improvement to the Biomass manager.
• Assist in PUWER, LOLER, Risk Assessments and fall out work associated.
• Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Biomass CHP steam generation plant.
• Ensure compliance through regular gas and steam meter calibrations.
• Complete plant “Rod and Rake”.
• Proficient in engineering operations whilst working in hazardous environments (Confined Space Entry, Hot working in confined spaces, WAH).
• Proficient in Site services work procedures.
• Participate in Mechanical projects and installations – Augers, conveyors, machine installs, machine refurbishment.
• Participate in Electrical projects and installations – Panel manufacture and installation, PLC upgrades, PAT testing, thermographic surveying.
• Efficient operations of effluent plant systems ensuring environmental compliance.
• Understand the operations of fire suppression systems – FireTrace, Sprinkler system, Hydrant system.
• Mentor to Level 1/2 Maintenance Engineers as well as Apprentices.
• Timely reporting of any Health and Safety, Animal Welfare and Environmental Issues.
• Demonstrate understanding of environmental impacts – DSEAR, Dust controls and Explosion mitigation.
• Raise Stock and Non-Stock request forms.
What we are looking for:
Essential
• 2+ years of engineering experience
• Electrical or Welding /fabrication experience
• Familiarity with process machinery or equivalent equipment and have the ability to fault find
• Mechanical fitting skills
• Ability to mentor a Level 1/2 Maintenance Engineers and Apprentices
• Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multi-task and thrive in a timeline-driven environment
• Interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work individually or as part of a team
Desirable
• HNC/Higher Level Apprenticeship or above
• IEE 17th or 18th Edition
• Instrumentation and process control experience
• PLC experience
• Air and pneumatics trained
• Boiler Operator Accreditation Scheme (BOAS) certification
