In-house Tax Accountant – Top-Tier Organisation – Milton Keynes – Circa £45k-£55k
Robert Walters are hiring an in-house role for a in-house Tax / VAT Accountant with a leading company based in Milton Keynes (with ability to work from home).
This is a newly-created, permanent role paying circa £45,000-£55,000 plus benefits package.
Working closely with Group Tax Manager and Financial Controller, the Tax / VAT Accountant will take on a varied tax role, covering both direct taxes and indirect taxes, and with an interesting mix of advisory, compliance and project work.
On top of the tax work, the Tax Accountant will also work closely with the Financial Controller on a range of financial accounting/planning work – So this is a great opportunity for a tax specialist who likes the idea of broadening out their skillset to also include wider finance work.
Responsibilities include:
Tax Compliance and Advisory covering:
VAT and Indirect Tax
Corporation Tax
Employment Taxes
International Tax
Other Taxes as appropriate
Supporting input to Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting re Tax ensuring that any effects of irrecoverable VAT, Corporation Tax or other taxes are taken into consideration
Input to the cashflow forecasting process with respect to cash inflows and outflows from VAT or other taxes
Proactive advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on tax related matters (e.g. new activities; contractual arrangements, proposed changes to tax rates/ rules etc)
Scanning the horizon for changes in tax and accounting legislation and reporting on potential impacts to the business
Finance reporting / planning covering:
Preparation of financial statements for the Group and Subsidiaries including –
Draft financial statements
Creating supporting schedules
Day to day assistance with the year end audit
Liaise with auditors and other finance teams to resolve issues and queries
Subsidiary and associate accounting for annual statutory accounts
Ad-hoc project work
The company are looking for someone with good tax experience gained either in practice or in industry.
They are willing to consider candidates with only direct tax experience, or only VAT/Indirect tax experience, or a combination of both – As long as you are happy to learn and gain new skills.
Ideally you will be a qualified tax accountant or tax adviser (ACA / ACCA / CTA / ICAS) or studying to become one.
