Our Client is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced underwriter to join its busy Mortgages Department. In this challenging and varied role, you will be a key member of the Underwriting Team, which includes DIP decisions, manual underwriting and control checks. You will work closely with the Head of Lending and Head of Underwriting to develop the Underwriting Team so that they are seen as “the best in class”. This is a great opportunity for an ambitious, highly motivated person to join a high performing team.
The main responsibilities of the role will include:
* Deputising for the Head of Underwriting on ad hoc occasions.
* Assist with management, training, coaching and development of staff within the mortgage department (mortgage admin and underwriting).
* Review existing processes and procedures: make recommendations on how these can be improved.
* Analyse MI with a view to business improvement.
* Timely and prudent lending decisions in line with the Society’s risk appetite and authorisation limits
* Working with the team to meet and exceed SLA levels.
* Preparing cases for referral to Credit Committee for approval where necessary.
* Delivering a first class personalised service: Liaising with customers, intermediaries, valuers and solicitors during the processing of their mortgage through to the completion.
* Work closely with the Key Account Managers to ensure that the quality of applications meets the Society’s requirements, which may include broker visits and events.
The ideal candidate will have:
* A full CeMAP qualification
* Significant experience of manual underwriting
* Experience of dealing with broker, intermediaries and packagers
* Experience of coaching or mentoring staff including change management
* Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
* Strong IT skills
* The ability to ‘lead by example’
* The ability to work under pressure with decision making responsibilities
Permanent Position, a mix of Home and Office Working Available, Full Time (Monday-Friday 9am-5pm)
