We are now looking for a Payroll Team Leader to join our head office team based in Little Chalfont, close to Amersham.
Reporting into the Payroll & Benefits Manager you will be responsible for helping to deliver the Group payrolls for over 1700 permanent Group employees and up to an additional 1000 temporary store employees at peak. This hands on role involves preparation and processing of UK store and Head Office payrolls and several smaller overseas payrolls. Your primary responsibility as Payroll Team Leader will be to ensure that our payrolls are accurate, transmitted on time and compliant with all current territory legislation. You will also be responsible for the monthly administration various employee benefits including pension autoenrollment and 3rd party payments.
Payroll Team Leader – Responsibilities
– Preparing & processing our hourly paid and salaried payrolls including starter/leaver changes, ad-hoc and 3rd party payments such as court orders and bonuses
– Overseeing the above across UK HO & Stores, Jersey, Isle of Man and Supplementary Christmas Fortnightly Payrolls
– Some International payroll accountability for partners in Hong Kong & Belgium
– Supervision of the payroll administration team including absence entries and timesheet checks for stores and upload of temporary hours.
– Administration of employee leave & absence payments including holiday entitlements, SMP's, SSP and occupational sick payments.
– Responsibility for two company pension schemes auto-enrolment processes including IOM and Jersey.
– Administration of core company benefits including Payroll Giving, Salary Sacrifice Cycle to work & childcare vouchers.
– Responsibility for statutory processes including all payroll year ends, FBI processing, P60s etc as well as providing payroll reports and data to the wider business.
Payroll Team Leader – Required Skills
– A minimum of 3 years payroll experience with at least two years hands on responsibility for processing multiple payrolls.
– Knowledge of Resourcelink (Zellis) system or similar web hosted Payroll and HRIS is essential.
– Experience working in a retail, hospitality or leisure environment with multiple sites an advantage.
– Working knowledge and experience of managing pension auto-enrolment.
– Experience of processing and managing salary sacrifice and 3rd party payments.
– Good working knowledge of current payroll legislation.
– Tech Savvy- excellent excel skills and an ability to analyse, manipulate and interrogate numerical information – must be able to use V look ups/macros.
– Experience of report writing within SAP or similar systems would be helpful.
– Experience of supervising and developing a small team is preferred.
– Knowledge of Hong Kong, Jersey and Isle of Man legislation an advantage although not essential.
As Payroll Team Leader you will bring experience of processing multiple payrolls from start to finish. You will need to be well organised, accurate and able to deliver results under pressure and to tight deadlines. Retail is fast paced, and things never stand still with our client so you will also need to be energetic and embrace change with a diplomatic and decisive can-do attitude. You will also be a good people person who can effectively supervise the team and manage all the detail that is so important in payroll.
