This is an exciting opportunity to join a new mortgage lending organisation, gearing up to fully launch circa February 2022. They are seeking an experienced manual mortgage underwriter, with a strong background in Buy to Let underwriting. Initially, BTL will be the main focus of underwriting, but as the organisation grows and becomes established, there will be residential lending too.

Not only will you be involved in a brand new start up, you will help shape the processes, participate and contribute to ongoing business improvement activity and assisting their intermediary partners by discussing potential new applicants.

Our clients head office is based in Milton Keynes, and they would like this role to take on a hybrid approach of 3 days in the head office, and 2 working remotely.

Duties of the Mortgage Underwriter will include: –

* To process & underwrite new loans in line with credit policy, the responsible lending policy and the underwriting manual.

* To participate and contribute to ongoing business improvement activity

* Deliver a first-class proactive customer service through inbound and outbound communication by telephone, email and letter to all case stakeholders including introducers, service suppliers, reference providers and occasionally applicants.

* Build a thorough understanding of the products offered by the Firm, its lending strategy, credit risk policies, and processes.

* To assess borrower creditworthiness and underwrite new mortgage applications from initial receipt through to completion.

* Ensuring a high level of accuracy of data entry and ongoing record keeping.

* Supporting the processing team and underwriting peer group in delivering an excellent, compliant service with prompt and accurate decision at each stage of the process.

The successful person for the Mortgage Underwriter will possess: –

* Previous manual mortgage underwriting experience to include BTL

* Held a recent/current personal mandate
