Head of People Development

Hours of work: 08:45 to 17:00
Main Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of People, this is an exciting opportunity to join our busy team as Head of People Development. Leading and inspiring the team you will have overall responsibility for all aspects of people development including technical training, product awareness, health & safety training, soft-skills and leadership development. In conjunction with our Technical Training Manager and external partners you will oversee the delivery of our apprenticeship programmes. You will promote a culture of learning and development, giving our employees a great career experience whilst also preparing us for the future skills and capabilities we will need as a business.

Tasks
* Identify and evaluate short and long-term development needs, based on current business plans and market strategies, as well as individual development plans and development discussions
* Work with the team to create and deliver a progressive and exciting learning portfolio comprising of local and global development offerings from our Scania centres of competence
* Work closely with our People Business Partners to define business priorities and design development solutions that are joined up with our overall employer brand
* Lead our quarterly People Development Forums to identify and prioritise Company-wide training needs across all areas of people development
* Experiments with different development solutions, not just face-to-face courses. Digital resources & learning interventions that can be quickly deployed to respond to business needs
* Coach, challenge and develop the skills of our managers to support them with their team’s development
* Work with our People Business Partners and Managers to identify and develop their talent
* Optimize the use of our social learning platform so it becomes a valuable part of our overall development offering
* Create and maintain close working relationships with internal departments and external business partners
* Promote the use of new learning methods, sharing good practices and trends
* Work with Health & Safety to ensure a safe, secure and balanced work environment
* As a member of the People leadership team, contribute to wider People related projects
* Work with our suppliers to ensure we are getting the best possible service, challenging them to top performance
* Use data and insight to help us understand what our people need and how we are performing in relation to that
About you
* Demonstrable leadership experience
* Knowledge of the latest talent and development trends, with the ability to translate the theory into practice
* Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly build rapport
* Experience of coaching at all levels (Certified coaching qualification is desirable)
* Excellent presentation and delivery skills
* Experience of working with all aspects of development and learning including both technical and leadership
* You thrive in a challenging, fast-paced environment
* You have the ability to be a hands-on operator as well as contributing to strategic discussions as we continue on our journey to modernise the People function
* A can-do, customer-centric approach
* Experience of supplier management
* Ability to work under pressure and on multiple topics simultaneously
