Once Britain's best-kept secret, Bletchley Park – a unique heritage site and vibrant visitor attraction – is seeking a Finance Officer to join the team. Based in Bletchley, Milton Keynes, this role will support with general finance administration and ensure the timely processing and recording of the financial transactions of the Trust.
Bletchley Park Trust’s Mission is to highlight the codebreaking achievements of Bletchley Park in World War Two, its role as a birthplace of computing, and its importance and relevance today.
As the Finance Officer, your duties will be to:
Processing purchase invoices on the accounting system, ensuring invoices are approved and correctly coded
Paying purchase invoices in accordance with supplier credit terms and the BACS process
Reconciling monthly supplier statements to the accounting system to identify missing invoices
Managing the summary of admissions and groups income on Excel and posting onto the accounting system, including reconciliation to bi-weekly banking and daily credit card receipts
Raising cheque or BACS payments for any other expenses as appropriate
Posting non- purchase ledger direct debits and other payments as appropriate, securing appropriate paperwork
Producing and updating excel summaries and reconciliations as requested (e.g., balance sheet reconciliations)
To be a successful Finance Officer you will have the following skills, abilities and personal attributes:
Ability to input and maintain accurate data records
IT literate, including good working knowledge of Excel and Word
Numerate, methodical, organised and attention to detail
Good inter-personal skills and a willingness to assist others
Excellent telephone manner, especially with regard to credit control
Great team working, with excellent communication skills
Self-motivated and willing to take the initiative
Good problem-solving abilities.
The following experience or knowledge is essential:
Experience of processing a variety of financial transactions
Experience of computerised accounts packages
Minimum GCSE grade ‘C’ or equivalent in English and Maths
A knowledge of and interest in the Bletchley Park story and a willingness to promote the Trust’s Mission.
The following knowledge or experience are desirable, but not essential as full training will be given:
Experience of Sage Line 50 accounts package
Experience in a heritage/services sector
Knowledge of the Charity sector
Understanding of VAT
A qualification in bookkeeping or accounting.
The role is full time, working 37.5 hours per week, applications for part time working of 30 hours per week will also be considered.
In return, the Finance Officer will receive a salary of £20,000 – £23,000 per annum (pro-rata for part time) depending on experience, along with a company pension scheme, BUPA healthcare cash plan and 33 days holiday per annum pro rata, including statutory holidays.
