An immediate requirement for a European Financial Controller to work on a 3-month contract for our client who are a well-established Global organisation with a European Head Office based in the UK. Previous experience working for a US or International business is essential along with strong technical accounting skills with good knowledge of statutory requirements, processes and controls. European experience, including multiple currency, SOX and US GAAP is essential.

Responsibilities:

The production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk.
Performing month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing and coordinating and assigning duties to the accounting teams as needed.
Preparation of variance analysis on both the Income Statement and Balance Sheet.
Evaluating departmental performance and making adjustments to daily operations when needed to ensure the department meets overall goals and objectives.
Ensuring controls are designed and operating effectively to comply with SOX.
Management and timely closure of both internal and external audits.
Overseeing and supporting integration of new acquisitions into the company
Ensuring proper application of US & UK GAAP.
Proposing solutions to streamline current processes/activities.
Preparing and participating in business unit review meetings.
Overseeing and supporting the preparation and review of account reconciliations.
Reviewing and approving Journal Entries.
Partnering with the Business to accomplish key objectives and KPIs.
Ensuring statutory filings and audits are completed timely.
Completing of all tax returns, including but not limited to corporation tax, VAT returns and transfer pricing, working closely with external tax advisors and tax department.
Managing cash requirements across the international division.Requirements:

Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
Strong technical accountant with good knowledge of statutory requirements, processes and controls.
European accounting experience
SOX and US GAAP experience.
Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
Expertise in various database query and reporting tools.
