Our Public Sector client is currently looking to recruit a Corporate Accountant on an initial 3 month contract, looking to start ASAP. This will be working on a remote basis, with the occasional site visit to Milton Keynes.

The successful candidate will have previous experience working within a similar Accountant role, and ideally have had exposure to the public sector. A key deliverable for the team is the preparation and audit of the Statement of Accounts.

Duties will include –

* This role will prepare templates for working papers and liaise with service teams on key issues.

* Prepare revenue disclosures and evidenced accounting entries for corporate disclosures.

* Review working papers provided by service teams.

* Review of all balance sheet entries and provide management of audit queries from external audit, ensuring responses are timely and complete.

* The role will ensure all reconciliations are complete and all entries are posted on a monthly basis. They will manage the grants register, ensuring all income is received and correctly posted.

* The role will ensure compliance with Financial Regulations (scheme of delegation, procurement thresholds etc.) and look to improve how we share information on good financial management (such as the content and accessibility of the finance intranet site). Provide positive assurance, looking to promptly evidence or escalate issues.

* You will ensure accurate submission of grant returns and claims, ensuring evidence and working papers are accurate and clear.

* You will also complete other statutory returns and review benchmarking outputs to investigate where we are an outlier and identify areas of improvement.

* You will be responsible for preparation of FOI returns, preparation of information for the website and ensuring Transparency data is published
