Our Corporate client based in Milton Keynes is looking to recruit an experienced Compliance Coordinator, reporting to the Tax and Compliance Manager
The main aspects of the role are –
To actively support the Company in meeting its compliance obligations, from both an external regulatory and an internal governance perspective. To support the implementation of a full and comprehensive compliance framework within the business and contribute to the further development of internal controls, risk monitoring activities and KRIs (Key Risk Indicators). To maintain regulatory awareness and provide compliance-related advice to colleagues, management and cross-functional project teams.
The post holder will ensure the Company’s compliance with its data protection responsibilities, including the maintenance of public-facing documents and internal data registers, identifying areas of compliance risk, and supporting the completion of DPIAs.(Data Protection Impact Assessment)
It is envisaged that this varied role will develop further as the Compliance function expands and a more formal “second line of defence” is established. This is a great opportunity to help shape the development of an increasingly important function in an expanding business.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Support the continuing development of the Compliance function
* Interpret key policy requirements to prepare executive summaries and implementation resources
* Develop guidelines, instructions and procedures to support policies and steering documents
* Monitor and assess the effectiveness of working practices and associated internal controls
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment to ensure ongoing compliance
* Proactively identify areas of risk and/or compliance failure
* Support the development of a monitoring and reporting programme for KRIs to help mitigate business risks
* Deputise for the Tax & Compliance Manager, including providing Compliance input to cross-functional projects
* Maintain company registers including risk, internal controls, data protection and business continuity
* Ensure ongoing compliance with data protection requirements, handling data mapping, SARs (Suspicious Activity Report)and ICO interaction
* Maintain records and prepare regular updates for the Head Office function in Sweden
Key Competencies / Skills Required:
Essential:
* Solid understanding of compliance and risk with relevant, demonstrable experience in a compliance, audit or risk-related role
* A logical thinker with excellent attention to detail and a questioning nature
* Highly organised, with an ability to work to deadlines and juggle multiple projects
* Excellent writing and reading comprehension skills
* A strong work ethic, taking pride in producing high-quality output
* Focussed and self-motivated; comfortable working on own initiative
* Ability and confidence to communicate key concepts to all levels of the organisation
Desirable:
* Experience of working within the finance, leasing and/or insurance industry
* Experience of working with FCA regulations
