Scania is one of the country’s leading suppliers of heavy commercial vehicles we have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Financial Accountant to join the team. You will report to the Financial Accountant and be responsible for supporting both the central finance function and functional control teams.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
Preparation of month end journals, including accruals and prepayments schedules.
Assisting the finance team with monthly closing routines.
Complete allocated balance sheet reconciliations on a timely basis including investigation and resolution of any queries.
Generate consolidated invoices for key retail customers and vehicle maintenance units.
Support members of the wider team in transaction processing, chasing debt, analysing data and producing management reports.
Supporting the preparation and submission of VAT and Corporation tax returns.
Generate ad-hoc invoices and recharges.
Assist in the development and continual improvement of best practice in the finance area.
Ad hoc project work around internal reporting and control.
Education and experience
– AAT qualified (or close to being qualified) or working towards ACA/ACCA/CIMA
Candidates should be able to demonstrate:
Sound technical ability in respect of double entry book-keeping, accruals & prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations.
Good general IT skills including Microsoft Excel
Good communication skills, verbal and written
Ability to organise work and be self-motivated
An ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team
Willingness to develop accounting skills
