Assistant Accountant
The Assistant Accountant reports to the Financial Controller
Objective and Role
To administer and manage Options Pension's business in accordance with regulatory requirements, agreed Service Levels, Company and Team Objectives.
To manage the accounts receivable and accounts payable function and assist in other accounting, reporting and administrative areas in support of the Financial Controller.
The role requires diligence towards each activity and to follow procedures
Duties and responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Accountant include, but are not limited to, the following tasks and activities:
Responsibility for all aspects of the accounts receivable function including:
* processing of sales invoices and credit notes onto the accounting system,
* recording the receipt of monies by the various entities
* credit control activities
* management of direct debit collections form clients
Assist in:
* posting of bank transactions and reconciliation of bank accounts
* processing of bank payments in the Banking systems in accordance with Group policy
* general ledger postings/reconciliation including inter-company transactions
* provision of support for the month end and year end reporting process as directed
* any other duties as required
Finance duties for the UK Pensions business, including:
* Payment of PAYE and co-ordination with HMRC
* VAT returns re commercial property and the OSSAS and OEBC entities
* bank authorisations and reconciliations
* providing audit information as required
* any other duties as required
Responsibility for all aspects of the accounts payable function including:
* receipt and processing of invoices, credit notes and other relevant documentation as necessary
* maintenance of the creditor’s ledger including monthly reconciliation of the vendors accounts
* posting of entries in the system to establish the liability (and expense) in the relevant entities
* preparation of vendor payments and posting of vendor payments and matching on the vendor account
* expenses processing
* to contribute to the development of new Options business processes, procedures and initiatives
* to discharge any other duties as may be required from time to time
Month end responsibilities:
* general ledger postings, including accruals and prepayments, fixed assets and depreciation etc
* the preparation of monthly management accounts for OSSAS and OEBC businesses with variance analysis
* bank reconciliations
Cover for the finance team as required in respect of:
* daily reporting of bank receipts
* posting of bank transactions and reconciliation of bank accounts
* any other duties as required
And:
* to contribute to the development of new Options business processes, procedures and initiatives
* to discharge any other duties as may be required from time to time
Key Skills
At least three years’ experience in an accounting environment.
AAT or Part qualified CIMA or ACCA having passed at least 4 papers
Advanced excel skills to include pivot tables
