No two days are ever the same at Chelton, you will be faced with new challenges to overcome and, from the start, you will be able to take full ownership of the tasking and work with the team to see products through to successful introduction to service. This role will be based at our headquarters in Marlow, Buckinghamshire – however there is an element of flexibility and home working for the right candidate.
This position is responsible for undertaking Product Safety Management activities for the business based within the Office of Airworthiness.
As a Safety Engineer your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
* Engineering degree in relevant discipline (or time served equivalent)
* 3+ years of aviation safety experience in a relevant organisation
* Fully conversant with MIL-STD-882, DEF-STAN 00-56 and SAE ARP 4761 safety management standards/procedures and the methods covered therein, i.e. FHA, CCA, FTA, FMEA, etc.
* Demonstrably SQEP for aviation safety
* Extensive experience of writing safety assessments
* Demonstrated technical report writing and reviewing skills
* Knowledge of aircraft airframe, electrical, electronic, software and mechanical systems
* Experience of safety requirements definition and management
* Experience of working with Aerospace Regulators (Civil and Military)
* Excellent decision making and problem solving skills
* Ability to demonstrate initiative and work autonomously
As a Safety Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:
* Assisting the Head of Airworthiness and Safety (AW&S) in defining and implementing the Chelton Safety Management policy and procedures to ensure all Product Safety requirements are met in full
* Conducting and guiding Safety Management activities
* Providing advice on Product Safety matters to Project Teams ensuring safety requirements are correctly defined, recorded and met to meet Customer and Regulatory requirements
* Assisting the Head of AW&S in the implementation and monitoring of the aerospace complaint Safety Management System (SMS)
* Representing the Safety department at Customer and Internal Design Reviews
* Reviewing and approving safety documentation
* Encouraging and managing proactive safety reporting within our Just Culture
* Assisting the Head of AW&S in the development and implement of in-house safety management training across the organisation
