This role will be based at our headquarters in Marlow, Buckinghamshire.
Your skills and experience
Chelton Limited are looking for Quality Engineer. Our company design and manufacture active and passive avionics antennas and electronic control systems for military and civil communications, navigation and search and rescue applications. We pioneered frequency agile VHF tuneable antennas and continue to be a key supplier to major avionics companies.
Our GPS anti-jam technology utilises state of the art DSP algorithms with an active antenna to eliminate both narrow-band and wide-band jamming signals. We have world leading technology in Ground Penetrating Radar and RF interference mitigation. Both military and civil users rely on our direction finding systems for search and rescue operations.
As a Quality Engineer who will initially work in New Product Introduction (NPI) to support our design organisation and major programmes, your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
* Experience in driving quality improvement in the NPI process, within Aerospace Engineering Design and Development and ideally projects and Programmes.
* A solid understanding of Aerospace, Quality System and Regulatory Standards, AS/EN9100, AS9145, APQP, EASA Part 145, 21G and ideally 21J/ETSOs (sub Part 0) is required –
* Conversant with application of RCCA techniques
* Ideally conversant and with experience of AS9145 Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
* Program and time management skills
* Understanding of quality improvement tools
* Mechanical and electrical inspection experience
* Auditor trained and qualified – Beneficial to have experience of DO178 & 254 – Beneficial to have Software Control experience
* Solid IT and data analysis skills including experience with most MS Office suite particularly Excel.
* Extensive experience with Document management system/PDM and ERP systems, including the ability to interrogate, analyse and draw reports from such systems – training can be provided on specific systems used.
As a Quality Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:
* As a member of the Operations team all reasonable activities and tasks within your competencies as a Quality Engineer to drive company Quality Objectives in a positive direction.
* To drive and support the successful execution of new projects throughout the project lifecycle to successful handover to production.
* Support the Product Development process through all lifecycle Gates and Design Reviews
* Provide assurance that all Customer requirements are well defined and executed as agreed
* Verify products with approved design documentation and accurately report deviations
* Conduct internal product, process and procedure audits throughout product development
* Facilitate and assist Root Cause Problem Solving activities with Engineering/IPTs
* Establish Continuous Improvement through Business Initiatives and Lessons Learned
* Implement effective/efficient processes to manage Quality Costs throughout product lifecycle
* Act as customer focal for problem resolution during Life Cycle Management phases prior to successful Production release
* Establish project Quality Plans to support flow-down of customer contractual requirements
* Review and update documented Quality processes and procedures
* Build relationships with interested parties internally and externally
* Influence decision making through data collection and analysis
* Introduce and maintain robust assurance, quality controls into the design and development process
* Evaluate and improve product quality using tools and techniques eg. APQP – Ensure initial product requirements fully capture customer quality expectations
* Support definition and mitigation of risks throughout product development
* Establish, Measure and improve identified Quality KPI’s for programmes Define process controls necessary to accomplish product compliance
* Develop an Engineering Quality Culture of procedure, process and policy adherence
* Ensure Product Safety is considered and evaluated throughout development
