JOB VACANCY: LIGHTING CONTROL SYSTEMS ENGINEER
We have a vacancy for a Lighting Control Systems Engineer based at our Long Crendon office.
COMPANY
The company was formed in 2004 with a drive to provide a unique style of support in the delivery of Lighting Control Solutions for many styles of venues in different sectors. Some of the sectors that they work in are Architectural, Public Realm, Theatres, Conference and Meeting Rooms in the hotel and corporate sector, alongside an expanding high end retail sector.
Over the years the advanced technical ability of lighting control products has played a big part in the lighting control solutions they have provided, with greater emphasis on the user experience such as touchscreen technology or automatic processes using a variety of non-standard sensors.
The company is based on an industrial estate in Buckinghamshire which has good links to their main client sites across the UK.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The role is to compliment the small and dedicated team with the designing, resourcing, testing, programming, site commission and site maintenance of complex custom lighting control systems.
The role will be based at Long Crendon building where most of the specialist tasks will be completed.
Full training (both inhouse and 3rd party) will be given to ensure the successful candidate will have the required knowledge to have a technical challenging but rewarding job.
The role will include (but not limited to):
Testing of lighting control system design concepts, combining all the physical elements of the lighting control project and complete off-site testing and advanced system programming using many different specialist softwares.
To be responsible for the specialist area within the technical workshop of the beta testing and product development of control components.
The attendance to our client’s venues and sites to complete commissioning of the supplied equipment and where required attend sites to complete system maintenance or additional system engineer tasks.
As part of the projects team, the role will include the preparation of the required lighting control technical project paperwork, reports, and drawings.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate should have the following:
* Working knowledge of electrical systems.
* Positive ‘can do’ and friendly attitude, have excellent communication skills and be a team player.
* Have experience of creative problem-solving to find solutions to technical challenges, as well as being thorough, accurate and highly organised.
* Ability to keep and maintain good quality records and follow procedures.
* Enthusiastic, highly motivated, confident of taking on independently project responsibilities, being pro-active, and enabling continuous improvement.
* Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.
* Ability to multi-task and work on a number of projects at once.
* Have some lighting control and/or programming experience.
* Have some knowledge of the industry standard lighting control protocols.
* Good computer skills such as user experience in the Microsoft Office packages
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
As an advantage the candidate should mention if they have experience with theatrical lighting, Autocad or other design packages, the construction industry and their electrical experience and qualifications.
Transferable skills will be heavily considered as part of the recruitment process therefore please highlight your skills that you feel should be positively discussed.
The salary will be based on the successful candidates experience and negotiations. However, it will be set to a level that reflects the need to travel to and work on client sites.
A company pension scheme is in place and a favorable expenses arrangement will be offered.
Travel to client/ projects sites (local, regional, national and international) will be required including attending meetings with clients/ contractors and carrying out on-site work, therefore candidates will need to have a full driving licence.
Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK without visa restrictions.
As our offices are based on the 1st floor of the building with no lift access, candidates are asked to notify us of any adjustments they may need in order to attend for interviews.
Hours of work: This is a full-time position working basic 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 09.00am – 5.30pm. However, due to the nature of some client projects being in the retail sector, working hours will include evening and weekend work
