Overall Role
To be responsible for the operational management of the workshop. To ensure work is distributed to the foreman and HGV Technicians making efficient use of their time. Ensuring the workshop is utilised to its full potential and that vehicles are inspected, maintained, repaired and MOT’d to the standards outlined in the DVSA’s Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness

Qualification:
This is a key management role and requires a minimum of 2 years workshop Management/Supervisory experience with at least NVQ level 4.
Main duties and responsibilities:
1. Effective line management and supervision of the foreman, mobile technicians and an administrator
2. Manage workflow through the workshop including service, MOT, repair schedules and immediate ad hoc defect repairs.
3. Ensure maximum availability of vehicles and minimal vehicle downtime.
4. Communicate and provide progress reports to the Transport team
5. Plan the booking of MOT slots and PMI’s to fit in with operational needs, utilising mobile Technicians and third party agents if required.
6. Ensuring company documentation/records relating to service/repair reporting is completed correctly and on time.
7. Keep maintenance records to comply with DVSA compliance requirements
8. Responsible for health & safety in the workshop including that equipment is checked and logged in accordance with Health and Safety requirements, e.g., LOLER and PUWER
9. Ensure a cost-effective process for ordering parts and maintain a record of impress stock
10. Be part of the recruitment process for engaging skilled technicians
11. To be commercially aware at all times and able to offer suggestions and solutions to meet contractual demands without compromising legal responsibilities
