Our client develop, construct, own and operate premium solutions for critical energy applications. They are also making electric vehicle charging as convenient as petrol refueling, with a national network of ultra-fast, dependable Electric Forecourts that provide drivers with the confidence to go electric.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage, control and plan the delivery of the Solar Hybrid projects from start to finish.
• Plan and deliver engineering briefings.
• Apply Engineering controls and procedures to the design and construction activities in reference to the applicable company standards for the discipline.
• Coordinate and manage the review project deliverables including drawings, schedules, datasheets, specifications and commenting as required to validate suitable and executable designs.
• Coordinate and manage the delivery of all engineering deliverables across individual or multiple projects.
• Define or align to the defined scope of work and division of responsibilities between GRIDSERVE led activities and external partners.
• Engineering assurance role confirming that the installation and construction is delivered to the relevant specification and standards in line with the engineering design.
• Manage the Quality Assurance activities with internal or external resources.
• Supervise, create and approve site engineering activities that relate to civil, mechanical, structural and electrical work.
• Detail the project delivery plan and ensure the resources competencies are present to deliver each scheme.
• Lead projects from mobilization through to completion on time and within budget in a pre-planned, controlled and coordinated manner.
• Coordinate and manage as required FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), quality assurance checks and SAT (Site Acceptance Test) protocols of key subsystems are executed by the suppliers.
• Report on a weekly basis the delivery status highlighting concerns that may impact project timelines.
• Inform and update project risk registers on a weekly basis.
• Collate O&M handover documentation to include datasheets, commissioning records and maintenance plans.
• Suggest product and project improvements by facilitating technical feedback & analyzing issues during installation and from operational sites.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes including anti-bribery policy and Environmental and Quality Management System (compliant with ISO 9001 and 14001).
Job Title: Senior Project Engineer, Solar Hybrid
Reports To: Chief Technology Officer
Department: Technical Engineering
Based at: Iver, Buckinghamshire
Responsible for: Responsible for the delivery of all project engineering requirements for Utility scale
Solar and Energy storage Hybrid Projects.
Skills Required:
• Must have experience of working within a similar technical project engineering role, having successfully delivered projects related to either solar, battery storage technology or EV charging.
• Degree or an equivalent level of qualification in Electrical engineering is essential.
• Solid HV electrical infrastructure understanding, as well as the related Electrical Standards, Regulations and Legislation (DNO/ICP experience preferred).
• Experience in designing DC & AC (LV) systems, understanding of electrical schematics, string configuration and layout drawings.
• BS7671 18th edition qualification and ability to deliver designs and specify required equipment according to the regulations.
• Must have experience of using AutoCAD and/or other preview platforms to review drawings.
• All technical solutions and designs must meet technical, electrical standards and CDM regulations. Ensure quality of design meets Company standards.
• Experience in interpreting electrical drawings and diagrams is essential.
• Experience in delivery of Type B and Type C G99 projects
• Ability to analyze and interpret data and execute on performance review of working systems.
• Knowledge of safety features, grounding, disconnects, system testing, and troubleshooting of equipment.
• Able to conduct electrical calculations, cable sizing and earthing calculations.
• Ability to interpret topographical drawings.
• Ability to communicate and interpret needs effectively.
• Attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead multi-faceted projects and function well in a fast-paced work environment.
• Flexible mindset with a ‘hands on’ approach.
• Be fully conversant with the Microsoft Office suite to include word, excel, power point.
• Ability to travel to throughout the UK dependent on Project location.
Desirable Skills:
• Understanding of LV/HV Distribution Design and Protection Coordination is highly desirable.
• Working knowledge of battery storage or electric charging including their specifications, cost, efficiency, code compliance, performance, and reliability is highly desirable.
• Understanding of Substation Design and Protection Coordination is highly desirable.
• Knowledge and experience with SCADA systems is highly desirable.
