Our partner is a tech-enabled international sustainable energy business headquartered in the UK, whose purpose is to deliver sustainable energy and move the needle on climate change. We develop, construct, own and operate solutions in the ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging, energy storage and commercial-scale solar spaces to achieve this.
The company has a variety of formats which combine these solutions to increase their impact on decarbonisation, provide an improved customer experience and improve commercial viability of projects.
For instance, their Electric Forecourts include ultra-rapid charging, EV leasing and retail offerings to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles, alongside solar canopies to decarbonise this charging, and energy storage to balance the electricity grid. Other key formats include smaller Electric Hubs for ultra-rapid charging, and Solar Hybrids which combine solar power with energy storage, leveraging advanced technology such as bifacial solar panels which also track the sun’s movement to increase yields.
Key Responsibilities:
➢ Pre-EPC Commercial Management
• Co-ordinate Pre-EPC project activities from Qualification through to Contract Award, including:
o Scheduling kick-off and (appropriate) ongoing Pre-EPC review meetings to ensure the targeted project outcomes are met
o Project budget drafting (PRE EPC and EPC) based on the inputs from engineering, procurement, development teams
o Managing Technical Advisor communication, including appointment, data room documentation collection and upload, Q&A/ clarifications, draft DD report review and risk management
o Liaising with and providing updates to key stakeholders
o Co-ordinate and carry out ‘Lessons Learned’ of Pre-EPC ‘Bid Management’ & Project Hand-back phases.
• Review and input on EPC, supplier, or subcontractor legal agreements. Perform full evaluation of project contracts to set and document project compliance criteria. Present and implement compliance process into project delivery stage.
• Support the Project Delivery and Operations team to ensure project KPIs and compliance requirements are clearly communicated, documented, monitored, and successfully achieved throughout project design, delivery and completion
• Work with and support the assigned Development, Project Delivery and Operations team members, to ensure Pre[1]EPC documentation requirements and due diligence requirements are achieved in a timely manner
• Lead due diligence process relating 3rd party developed sites to be acquired, working with DEPCOMM team members to close out any Development, Engineering, Project Execution &/or OMM DEPC red flag risks and issues prior to closing on the acquisition.
Job Title: Commercial Project Manager
Reports To: Senior Commercial Project Manager
Department: Legal and Commercial
Based at: Slough, Buckinghamshire
Responsible for: Commercial Project Manager is responsible for all commercial matters relating to the projects he/she is assigned to, both pre-EPC and during EPC stage. This involves working within a multi-disciplinary team to support the project qualification phase and follow the contractual obligations, monitor compliance, making sure that company’s rights resulting from contractual changes are properly captured and exercised and drive commercial solutions to secure financial improvements of the project.
➢ Commercial Lead on Projects:
• Attend regular project specific meetings to maintain effective project team communication, contract management and contractual compliance
• Manage project budgets from initial budget drafting and presenting at approval stages, to implementation and review through the project delivery and completion stages.
• Manage Utilisation Requests/Drawdowns from the client/ investor, this includes communication with the technical advisors for ensuring timely approval of drawdown claims.
• Ensure that Pre-EPC risk registers are updated, reviewed regularly and signed off in line with the company commercial governance requirements and budget.
• Lead negotiations on variation claims, defend effectively against claims made by other parties and process legitimate claims according to the project contracts and company processes
• Monitor supplier performance in coordination with procurement department. Manage LD claims, contract non[1]conformances, complaints.
➢ Project Acceptance/ Sale:
• Collect relevant information/ H&S file/ client file and other required evidence to support with project completion and smooth handover to client/O&M team.
• Manage communication with technical advisor, upload documentation to the data room
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes including anti-bribery policy and Environmental and Quality Management System (compliant with ISO 9001 and 14001)
Skills Required:
• Degree educated with experience in renewable sector
• Strong commercial knowledge and contract negotiation skills
• Good knowledge of planning and project controls, change and time management abilities
• Experience in leading complex, cross function, multi-channel projects and influencing quality, project outcomes and timings from inception through to completion is desirable
• Proficient user of MS suite and project management tools – i.e. MS Project
• Have a track record of problem-solving and resourcefulness
• Experience with managing various stakeholders and sub-contractors, strong relationship building skills
• Self-driven, focused, results and quality oriented
• Team player and innovative with sound judgement and solutions driven
• The ability to foster self-motivation to achieve tight deadlines
• Professional with excellent client facing skills
