To be responsible for the Health and Safety of all staff including their induction, training and the keeping of their records. In addition, all practical matters relating to the safe and efficient running of the offices and workshops with particular reference to risk assessments, safe systems of work, signage, vehicle movements and depot housekeeping and documentation. Also, to investigate accidents and deal with insurers as and when required.

Main duties and Responsibilities

* Maintaining and enforcing Health & Safety standards and good housekeeping in the depot

* Maintaining, amending, implementing and devising Risk Assessments and safe systems of work and reviewing them at least every 12 months

* Investigating accidents and compiling reports for our insurers

* Inductions for all workers relevant to their area of work, keeping records of training and occupational health surveillance questionnaires and reviewing them on a regular basis

* Organising regular H&S meetings and ensuring representatives from all departments attend

* Responsible for DSE Assessments, accident book, first aid supplies, fire drills, risk assessments, COSHH, LOLER, PUWER, etc.

* Responsible for ensuring the Company meets all statutory and environmental regulations, particularly in regard to dangerous substances and waste, i.e., COSHH, Waste Carriers Licence, F-Gas Certification, medicals for relevant staff, etc.

* Responsible for the management and good housekeeping of the depot in general, including but not limited to ice gritting/bins emptied/weed control/lighting/car parking/office cleaning/ toilets and toiletry supplies/ canteens/ supply of water to coolers/ traffic control/ gully-sucking of septic tanks/ PAT testing, etc.

* Development, implementation and enforcement of depot policies, processes and procedures

* Responsible for contractors on site, that they adhere to H&S and have their risk assessments and insurances in order

* Keeping abreast of legal changes and HSE guidance and advise the Company accordingly

* Providing relevant H&S documentation to clients on request

Minimum requirement is a NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent in occupational health and safety
