My client are a very well established within the supported living for vulnerable adults with learning disabilities.
Purpose of the job
To provide robust and effective senior management and compliance of our residential and supported living services. To ensure that all statutory and legal obligations, are fulfilled across the business structure to the highest standard, promoting a culture of improvement and best practice at all times. To ensure the highest level of care standards are upheld in line with the CQC. To provide operational guidance and support to our services
We are seeking to appoint an outstanding senior leader who will be accountable for operational performance of a designated area within the organisation which provides registered care, supported housing and community out-reach services. This will include the responsibility for line management of registered managers / supported living managers, the management of quality and care standards, cost control, commissioning, engaging with a spectrum of stakeholders and ensuring regulatory requirements are satisfied. The post holder will be responsible for promoting best practice through a culture of continuous improvement and development. Bringing to the attention of the Head of Care and Supported Housing and Managing Director any areas where improvement could be made and also areas of good practice.
Provide operational ownership, leadership and oversight.
Operational and financial planning with commercial accountability for cost control, financial performance, business growth and development.
To be a positive leader and to represent the company professionally to all external contacts.
You will have demonstrable experience and success in an operational role ideally with a background in; multi-site social care, residential and supported living, alongside partnering with local authorities to deliver sustainable health and social care.
The post requires the responsibility of adhering to Support Mission Statement, vision and values and Statement of Purpose.
Main duties
Registration with CQC to manage our services providing personal care in non-registered services.
To maintain compliance with all relevant legislation and regulatory guidance. Your key responsibilities will centre on ensuring that the services are run in accordance with company ethos and CQC standards. To ensure the service meets all organisational and statutory requirements and complies with Care Quality Commission Standards and guidelines and our own standards, policies and procedures.
To oversee the delivery of high quality, person centred support to all individuals, development of corporate documentation, policies and procedures.
To lead and motivate the supported living and registered managers, providing support and regular supervisions to enable their development to ensure they meet the high standards set by the company.
To work in accordance with the companies’ vision statement, policies and procedures, and all relevant legislation.
To contribute proactively to the development, implementation, maintenance and management of systems, processes, procedures and / or standards within the organisation.
To develop and monitor monthly audits, service action plans, monthly reports, training oversight, A & I oversight, safeguarding and CQC reporting oversight, complaints oversight, recruitment and retention, sickness absence and HR issues across the organisation.
To ensure the services meet the compliance requirements by retaining oversight of the audit process and service improvement action plans.
To implement any recommendations made following regulatory inspections.
To raise any concerns found to the head of care and supported housing and managing director as necessary.
To support staff to document good practice and celebrate success.
To work with clients, partner organisations and external professionals in a professional and competent manner, maintaining confidentiality and diplomacy at all times. Ensuring services are well promoted and models of service developed which meet the strategic needs of Buckinghamshire commissioners.
Ensure voids are filled appropriately, in a timely way.
Ensure person-centred care plans, risk assessments, behaviour support plans are regularly reviewed and implemented.
Ensure the health and wellbeing of the people we support, in line with CQC Guidelines and policies.
Support the teams to deliver effective risk assessments and emergency plans to ensure the people we support are safe.
Make sure the staff team are appropriately trained and motivated to provide high quality support.
Make sure complaints are dealt with in line with our policies.
To report closely to the Head of Care and Supported Housing on practice in the service both good and areas that need improvement.
To be involved in additional projects as required by the Head of Care and Supported Housing or MD
Assist with induction of new starters ensuring that competency and induction paperwork is signed off
To undertake areas of business development as required
Any other duties that are reasonably required by the Head of Care and Supported Housing or MD Person specification
Essential criteria
Minimum of 2 years’ experience and a proven track record of successful care and support management of services for individuals with complex needs in a management role
Minimum 5 years’ experience of working with people with a learning disability or autism or mental health problem.
Strong CQC legislation knowledge and minimum 2 years’ experience of working at a senior level within CQC registered services
To understand the key issues facing Adult Social Care at a national and local level
Strong relationship management skills and experience – excellent communication skills to work effectively with senior managers, staff teams, service users, their families, staff and external professionals
Have good IT skills and technical competence with the Microsoft Office package (Word / Excel / Outlook).
Be numerate and literate to a high standard
Be able to research information as necessary to fulfil the job description
Be able to work in an efficient and organised manner, ensuring that deadlines are met
Have the ability to work unsupervised, be self-motivated and to maintain focus in a challenging / demanding environment
Have a good eye for detail for internal and external documentation
Have the ability to work with staff at all levels to support the services to deliver quality provision to vulnerable adults
Be flexible in your approaches to work, making appropriate decisions and ensuring that changes to priorities are accommodated
To be able to maintain confidentiality at all times
Have a commitment to equal opportunities, an understanding of equality and diversity issues, dignity and rights
Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support approaches
Have a valid UK driving licence for travelling or be prepared to travel between the organisation’s services.
Location – 6 locations across High Wycombe (With some remote working)
The role is Monday – Friday – however due to the nature of the role some ‘out of hours’ calls may occur.
Direct Report – 4 Service / Registered Managers
Reports to – Head of Care & Support
The ideal candidate will have experience with:
Learning Disabilities and Mental Health
Previous experience working with CQC Registered Services
Maintaining compliance with all relevant legislation and regulatory guidance.
Ensuring services are run in accordance with company ethos and CQC Standards
