Permanent, Full-Time 37 hours per week, working alternate weekends.

The role
We are hiring for an enthusiastic Assistant Residential Worker to join a small and friendly team at the Vines.
We enable young people to stay for short breaks aged between 11-19 years with learning disabilities. We work with 5 families however offer a larger package of care.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join a growing and developing team.

You will make a difference by:
– Working as a team and individually to provide a flexible responsive, high quality and person centred care to children young people and their families based on an assessment of need and to access to a range of stimulating and safe activities and experiences within and external to the home.
-Building and maintaining professional working relationships with children young people and their families by providing emotional, social and practical support to young people who can display challenging emotional and social difficulties
-Establishing relationships and links within the community to assist the child, young person and their family.
-Supporting children and young people in their personal care, administration of medication and clinical procedures in line with organisational policies and procedures.
-Ensuring that the views and needs of children/young people are heard and responded to by promoting communication and participation
-Undertaking routine household tasks e.g. cooking washing shopping and/or supporting young people to undertake these tasks to enable the smooth running of the home and to promote independence.
-Contributing to the development and evaluation of care plans and input to service planning meetings where required and attend meetings as directed, reporting issues raised to line management.
– Recording observations and maintain up to date files (paper and electronic), utilising agreed systems and procedures; undertake administrative processes as necessary to maintain systems, procedures and office practices
You will need
– Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent to be achieved within 2 years of taking up the post.
– Willingness to participate in relevant on the job or off site training.
– Experience in providing support and care, and being sensitive to the needs of others.
– Good communication skills, verbal and written.
– Ability to manage difficult situations within remit of job
– Ability to plan and organise work once directed
– Ability to use Microsoft office packages
– An understanding and appreciation of Health and safety within the workplace
– Working on a shift basis as required.
