Sustainability Manager (Housing / Construction)

Salary: £40,000

High Wycombe / Beaconsfield area – working from home currently

Are you experienced in corporate Sustainability?

Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Sustainability Manager to join them on a full time basis. Their Corporate Plan sets ambitious targets for us to reduce the environmental impact of their business and to start a major investment programme to reduce and eventually eliminate the CO2 emissions impact of the 15,000 homes which they own or manage across Beds, Herts and Bucks. The postholder will be influential in developing plans and projects which achieve those corporate aims, working closely with all areas of the business, including their expert asset management and surveying staff, as well as key colleagues in their Development, Procurement and Facilities functions.

Our client are looking for somebody who has experience in developing strategy including wider corporate ESG reporting frameworks, and who has delivered projects with measurable and substantive positive environmental sustainability improvements.

Job requirements:

Lead on the development of the organisation’s Environmental Sustainability strategy

*

Adopting a proactive approach to improving group environmental performance

*

Developing new ways of driving sustainability performance through the organisation and leading on initiatives which build skills and capability and contribute to delivering targets

*

Keeping up-to-date with the sustainability agenda, new legislation and best practice guidelines including identifying and submitting bids for relevant funding sources to support investment in projects or support residents to reduce their environmental impact

*

Engage tenants and wider communities in the development and delivery of environmental sustainability interventions as appropriate

*

Work with internal teams throughout the whole development process from land buying to design, the purchase of goods and services and build, through to sales and customer service to implement sustainability initiatives and innovative approaches

What our client are looking for:

Experience of carrying out a similar specialist role in a corporate sustainability function ideally in the Housing or Construction sectors.

*

Recognised professional qualification or certification in sustainability reporting or related area (desirable)

*

Understanding of sustainability issues within the residential sector including experience of designing or delivering effective strategies and actions to improve performance

*

Ability to research complex topics and communicate findings in an easy to understand format, including presentations

*

Great communications skills, stakeholder management and the ability to build professional relationships

*

Budget and cashflow management knowledge
