Laundry Operative

We are recruiting for a Laundry Operative who is responsible for the servicing (collecting, sorting, washing, bagging, etc.) client laundry in accordance with the schedules provided. The candidate will excel in good team communication, as well as good numeracy and writing skills. The laundry operative must show incitive and the ability to work alone as well as part of a team. From time to time the laundry operative may also be asked to assist with other hygiene tasks within the hygiene department. The hygiene department includes Washroom Services, Laundry & lift / lay matting services.

The role requires the successful candidate to be a Full UK license holder and must have held their license for a minimum of 2 years. The employee shall hold no more than 3 penalty points.

The Hygiene Laundry Operative may work within contracts which require an enhanced security clearance in order to obtain access to the client’s buildings for deliveries and collection of Laundry.

Laundry Operative Responsibilities:

• Sorting laundry items according to material, colour and wash requirements and instruction labels to avoid any damage and optimise service
• Use of digital system to record and report on laundry servicing for our customers.
• Accurately document laundry items to ensure correct billing for the laundered goods
• To wash, dry, press or iron laundry items using the laundry room equipment and products
• Inspect laundry before washing for stains to be removed or noticeable damage or wear and tear to be noted
• Inspect returning items as bagged to ensure quality control is maintained
• Ensure all laundry is properly dry before bagging and neatly folded to avoid damp and mildew
• Bag clean dry laundry correctly to ensure returned to the correct client
• Keep clear records of laundry processed, quantities, damage or noted issues reported via the company’s digital service app for each client
• Ensure completion of correct documents
• Maintain the cleanliness of the laundry room
• Regularly check stock level of all products used such as machine detergents, update and request stock to maintain a continuous service
• Respond to customer complaints in a professional manner and communicate these to your Department Manager or Supervisor
• Collect and deliver laundry for servicing or return using a company provided vehicle

Cleaner Requirements:

• Experience in using laundry room equipment and detergents preferred
• Self-motivated with an eye for attention to detail, accountable, and able to make good decisions to benefit the team / outcome of the department.
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work under own initiative or as part of a team
• Punctual, professional and driven
• This role deals with a significant amount of manual handling
• UK driving licence is essential with a minimum 2 years as a full licence holder
• Experience of driving large vans/ vehicles is preferable
• Your ultimate goal is to provide an excellent laundry service to our clients
