Highway Operative

Hourly Rate – £12.00 – £12.60/hr with training based improvements + Extensive Overtime

Winter Service (£140/week + £75 per run – 6 out of 12 months)

Based in High Wycombe, HP11 1TJ

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Highways Operative on our Buckinghamshire contract. The Highways Operative would be responsible for assisting, generally as part of team, in the delivery of highway maintenance schemes in both planned and reactive operations. Applicants must be willing to be part of a road maintenance team where driving forms part of the day to day role as well as general road maintenance duties. The successful candidate will have a civils or drainage background and have a UK drivers license, ideally holding a Class 2 HGV license.

The successful candidate will have;

Previous experience delivering civils or drainage maintenance schemes
A current HGV Licence with CPC
Local knowledge of the Essex Highway Network
A good understanding of health and safety and its impact on the workplace
Ability to work safely and productively with minimum supervision
Clean – Full UK Driver's LicenseYou would be responsible for;

Working as part of the Highway Maintenance Operations Team
Pothole repair and carriageway defect reinstatements
Carriageway and footway patching
Drainage works, including laying pipes, resetting ironwork and gully / access chamber construction
Installation of road signs and other small civil works
Soft estate maintenance works (e.g. grass cutting, strimming, etc)
An understanding of the principles of Health, Safety and the Environment
