Data Warehouse Developer
£56,000 per annum
High Wycombe
This role is working for a large not for profit based in High Wycombe who is going through a large Digital transformation across the organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, pragmatic and proactive Data Warehouse Developer to own the design & creation of a new data warehouse which will be fed from the new systems created as part of the clients major ongoing digital transformation programme.
You will take ownership of –
* Ownership of the design of the clients data warehouse
* Ownership of the build of their new data warehouse
* Ownership of the ongoing stability of the data warehouse load
* Partnering with the business to understand their data and processes in significant detail in order to add new subject areas
Responsibilities –
* Responsible for all aspects of the design of the architecture of the data warehouse
* Responsible for building the data warehouse in a phased approach
* Responsible for ensuring a deep understanding of the data in our existing applications by business interviews and analysis
* Responsible for ensuring the quality of the ETL code which will take data from various application sources and generate our data warehouse
* Responsible for ensuring that the dimensional modelling of the data – e.g. it’s granularity and relationships – is fit for purpose
* Responsible for ensuring that data quality issues are automatically identified and flagged as the data warehouse is loaded
* Responsible for working with the infrastructure team to ensure the data and metadata is appropriately backed up, performant, indexed, etc
* Responsible for timely resolution of any issues with the regular load of the data warehouse
* Responsible for ensuring that data from different sources is combined (as far as possible) – we will have many major sources
* Responsible for creating appropriate summary tables, data cubes and similar outputs so as to minimise duplicated effort across all data warehouse users (including those using data visualisation software)
* Responsible for documenting the data warehouse so that data warehouse users can easily find the information they need – this would include naming conventions etc.
* Responsible for ensuring the data warehouse is appropriately secure and GDPR compliant
* Responsible for providing advice and consultancy to the business on the underlying data and transformations carried out within the warehouse
Experience –
* A deep and strong understanding of data
* SQL Server experience, specifically SSIS and SQL in SSMS
* Articulate with strong communication skills
* Proactive with the ability to work independently
* Experience in a business intelligence function
* Experience in data exploration / visualisation software like Power BI or Tableau, or working closely with users of these tools
* Experience in other ETL tools
* Data warehouse design
