Technical Author, High Wycombe, £40,000pa plus benefits:

A leading high-tech manufacturer is looking to recruit a Technical Author to join a specialist engineering team delivering both specialist software and mechanical design services to this impressive global client base. The Technical Author will be responsible for the design and delivery of high quality, easy to use, end user documentation spanning the two teams and their clients.

The role:

* Researching, writing, editing, illustrating, project managing, and publishing customer/engineer documentation, including installation & setup guides, user guides, hardware manuals and software manuals.

* Working with software developers to update user documentation for each software release and to amend the documentation to reflect new features developed during release cycles.

* Working with engineers and technologists to update system and hardware documentation

* Estimating documentation effort and delivery planning

* Helping to define documentation requirements

About You:

The Technical Author will ideally have the following skills and attributes:

* Degree level education

* Ideally – Physics/Materials Science degree

* Excellent writing, oral communication, presentation, and organisation skills

* Ability to structure and write material for a highly technical audience

* An inquisitive nature, with the ability to ask subject-matter experts the right questions

* Ability to work independently and manage your priorities and deadlines appropriately

* A ‘continuous improvement’ mentality

* Ideally – Experience using Microsoft DevOps

* Ideally – Experience with a software help tool like Madcap Flare and/or RoboHelp, and Madcap Lingo
