This is a full time or part time (our client can accommodate school hours) permanent position.
Our client, based in High Wycombe and who thrives on providing a friendly, approachable and efficient service for its clients, is looking for an Accounts Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant company with ambitious growth plans.
You will need to know your way around an Accounts Department and be able to hit the ground running after a full handover and ensure all financial transactions are accurately processed and on time.
Usual working hours are 9am-5pm, although many staff members work flexibly (including part time and some home working). Our client will endeavour to be as flexible as they can, although may not be able to promise exactly what you would ideally like.
Duties include:
* Balancing of bank and credit card accounts and petty cash
* Maintenance of Sales and Purchase Ledgers and all associated activity, including invoicing, chasing payments and scheduling supplier payments
* Preparation and submission of VAT returns
* Transferring invoice details onto Hire Management System and monitoring for billing due
* Chasing Project Managers for billing information and cost approvals
* Liaising with accountants as required for annual reporting etc.
* Working closely with MD providing ongoing assessments of P&L, cash flow forecasting etc.
* Handling of ad hoc tasks for the MD
* Telephone answering
Additional requirements
* Proven work experience as an Accounts Assistant (or similar)
* Good working knowledge of bookkeeping procedures
* Solid data entry skills with the ability to identify numerical errors
* Good organisational and time-management skills
* Excel experience
* Xero experience desirable (but not essential)
* Excellent attention to detail
* Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
* Ability to prioritise own workload
