Teaching Assistant – Autism Support
High Wycombe – Primary School – ASAP Start
The working hours are 8:30- 3:30 – Full Time
A reputable primary school in the High Wycombe area is looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant to join their team to work in a 1:1 supporting role with an autistic child.
This is an exciting opportunity for any experienced Teaching Assistant to work in a forward-thinking, modern primary school.
Children are at the centre of decisions made at the school and they pride themselves on providing an inclusive learning environment and opportunities for success regardless of background, needs and abilities. Staff are supported as the school recognises that this is key in order to develop pupils in to achiever with high aspirations of themselves.
The Senior Leadership Team are very supportive and additional training will be provided regularly through staff meetings and CPD opportunities.
Who would be the Schools Ideal Candidate?
· Level 2 NVQ EYFS/ Teaching and Learning in Schools or above – OR an equivalent qualification or degree in a childcare or social care related subject or relevant experience.
· Experience with Autism and challenging behaviour would be highly desirable
· Prior experience supporting children with special needs on a 1:1 basis or within an SEN school.
· A teaching assistant who has the drive and determination to make a difference every day.
· A practitioner who is committed to the longevity of the role and has previous experience working in a primary school.
What will you be expected to do on a daily basis?
The role will vary from day to day, however with the child’s needs being the main focus, it is important for the teaching assistant to be able to get to grips with the routine and individual needs of the child. The teaching assistant will be responsible for supporting the class teacher to deliver tailored learning experiences to suit the child’s individual needs and abilities. You will need to have a wealth of strategies and techniques that you can use effectively in the classroom that will work in line with the child’s Education Plan.
