Position: SEMH Practitioner (KS3 & KS4)

Location: High Wycombe

Salary: £20,859 – £26,137 depending on experience, qualifications and training

Contract Type: Permanent, Term Time only

Working hours: 8.30am-5.00pm, Monday to Friday

About the school

Our client, a private national provider of alternative provision for young people aged 11-16 years, are recruiting two SEMH Practitioners in their Ofsted rated ‘Good’ school in High Wycombe to support their pupils by helping to provide an accessible secondary education suitable for their individual needs.

Overview of the role of SEMH Practitioner

* Work in partnership with the Headteacher to strengthen the awareness and knowledge of SEMH needs and their underlying causes across the school.

* Deliver intervention programmes to all KS3 and KS4 students.

* Build additional capacity in school to deliver a range of SEMH, and other supportive interventions.

* Lead programmes to help provide parents and families with strategies and support options.

* Implement strategies for students with attachment issues and adverse childhood experiences (ACE).

* You will help to enable these young people to either return to mainstream education; or access work-based learning, further education or employment when they leave at the age of 16.

Essential requirements for the role of SEMH Practitioner

* Training in a range of interventions specific to SEMH; including but not limited to art, music or drama therapy, ELKLAN, Lego Therapy, Protective Behaviours.

* QTS or QTLS would be an advantage, but not essential

* Ideally you will hold a relevant SEN qualification.

* High standard of literacy and numeracy, including evidence of GCSE English & Maths at C or above (or equivalent).

* Previous experience of working with children, young people or adults who present social, emotional and mental health difficulties, and the resultant barriers.
