SENDhelp are looking to recruit a Learning Mentor to work in partnership with a Special Needs school from January.
Located in the diverse and vibrant town of High Wycombe, this special needs school provides a calm and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow. Catering for children between the ages 11 – 19, our partner school believes in developing educational solutions that are pragmatic and tailored to the individual needs of each child.
Staff at this school prioritise developing a trusting relationship with students, enabling them to expand their autonomy and to be involved in making decision about their own education.
Reported by Ofsted, "this school has been found to lead with clear determination and a passion to see its pupils engage with their learning and success in becoming more independent". To enable our partner school to keep their high standards in special needs education, they have launched an exciting opportunity for a higher-level Teaching Assistant to work closely with their most vulnerable pupils.
This role is for a Learning Mentor t to work on a full-time basis. The post- holder will be expected to work with individual pupils who have severe learning difficulties and a range of challenging behaviour. You will complement the professional work of the Senior Leadership Team by leading and delivering learning objectives to students as directed
As our new Learning Mentor, you will be:
Responsible for planning and delivering learning activities to students, adjusting these activities in accordance with their needs / responses.
Assess the needs of pupils and establish a productive working relationship with them
Set targets to pupils and work with them using their individual education programmes (IEP)
Attend any meetings in relation to the child's social and/ or educational development.
attending relevant courses / training to develop experience and broaden awareness
