The Role – Electrical Electronic Equipment Engineer
Following planned expansion, this market leading organisation now seeks to recruit an Electrical Electronic Equipment Engineer, responsible for safety, cost, lead-time and quality of transducer products, procedures, processes, equipment and training in the transducer and thermal (T&T) products department.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
Managing and leading projects ranging from product improvements through to the implementation of new shop-floor processes and equipment.
Detailed design, development, documentation and system evaluation. Typically, electronically interfacing instrumentation and high level software.
Design, manufacture, commissioning and support of test equipment on the shop-floor
Liaising with project task stakeholders.
Justification and implementation of major capital investment and future capital requirements.
Ensuring compliance to the health and safety legislation. This includes carrying out process, equipment and product risk assessments, specifying and maintaining appropriate safety procedures.
Identifying and implementing cost improvement opportunities throughout T&T. These include improvements to training, equipment, procedures, processes, and products.
Test equipment development including structured documentation to engineering specification.
Providing high level technical support and training to production staff.
Recommendation of items for inclusion into the long-term strategic plan. This should include major capital investments & suggestions on growing the business.
Research and introduction of ways of reducing product lead-times.
Support of legacy and current transducer products.
Maintain a good working knowledge of:
– cost accountancy & company costing systems
– the company’s production control system.
– the company’s quality management.
– the company’s document and problem management system.
Coding in languages including C# / LabVIEW and using data acquisition instrumentation such as HBM and National Instruments products
Your Background – Electrical Electronic Equipment Engineer
This role would suit an experienced Electrical or Electronic Engineer with experience of Service Engineering, Process Improvement, Manufacturing or Production Engineering, looking to join a market-leading manufacturer of sophisticated Materials Testing Instrumentation.
Experience of the following would be advantageous:
·Ability to electronically interface instrumentation to data acquisition systems and develop high level software UIs.
·Coding in LabVIEW and / or C# high level software languages
·A “state of the art” knowledge of manufacturing methods and technology including production equipment, manufacturing and design processes.
·Ability to carry out systems engineering tasks with minimal coaching.
·Highly motivated with good team working skills.
·Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
·Ability to fault find software and electronics.
·Ability to inter-relate with other disciplines.
·Ability to understand design for safety, quality, manufacturability, performance, serviceability, reliability and cost effectiveness.
·A working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation as it relates to the role.
·Electronics design using a CAD package (ORCAD desirable)
·Coding in LabVIEW and / or C# high level software languages
