ITSS Recruitment are working in partnership with a growing business who are looking to hire a qualified Financial Controller with experience working within an SME.
Objectives:
– To work closely with the Chairman, Managing Director, Business Development Director, Operations Director and other Senior Management.
– Head up the day to day financial activities including preparation of month end management accounts, VAT returns, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and prepayments, and year end statutory accounts.
– Implement and maintain strong financial controls and systems within the business.
– Identifying and recommending potential operational efficiencies and improvements to working practices and procedures.
– Produce budgets and forecasts for the various business activities Provide timely and accurate performance and management information.
– Support the Managing Director and Operations Director in the development and implementation of initiatives and projects across the business.
Main Responsibilities:
* Establish financial policies and procedures for controlling the Company's operations in line with the Companies Act, Accounting standards and any other legal and regulatory requirements.
* Assist in the production of the monthly management accounts including back up schedules in an accurate and timely manner.
* Balance sheet reconciliations.
* Review of monthly event & sporting jobs.
* Manage accounts staff.
* Manage and maintain financial books and records.
* Manage day to day work of the finance team including purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit control.
* Prepare monthly payroll information for outsourced payroll.
* Management of accounting side of membership.
* Recommend operational improvements across the business.
* Recommend robust control processes for implementation across the business.
* Develop and implement effective financial controls and authorisation procedures including purchase order system.
* Manage all payment systems and online banking procedures.
* Work with all areas of the business to ensure costs are accurately evaluated and budgeted for.
* Prepare annual budgets and forecasts including revenues and operational costs.
* Liaise with various external and internal stakeholders.
* Act as an ambassador of the business.
* Attend, support and help deliver various projects and events.
Person Specification
* AAT / ACCA or ACA qualified.
* Experience of working in a SME business.
* Strong analytical skills, positive, decisive and assertive.
* Strong interpersonal skills.
* High integrity.
* Technology literate with a high degree of competency in the use of Microsoft Office.
