Are you looking for a 6-month Assistant Accountant contract role with a busy accountancy firm? Due to maternity leave, our client needs an extra pair of hands, initially for six months, with the possibility of a permanent role at the end of the contract.

The role is with a growing accountancy practice that provides bookkeeping, accounting and tax services to a range of clients and as Assistant Accountant, you will help the firm in continuing to provide a seamless, high-quality service for the duration of the maternity leave period.

As an Assistant Accountant your role will involve:

* Preparation and submission of accounts, corporate and personal tax returns

* Liaising with clients and dealing with queries in a timely and professional manner

* Some bookkeeping and preparation of management accounts

* Liaising with HMRC on various client matters

* Other tasks as required to ensure the smooth running of the practice

The ideal candidate will have the following skills, experience and attributes:

* Part-qualified (studying AAT or ACCA) or qualified

* At least 1 years’ accounts experience gained within a practice environment

* Ability to manage your time efficiently

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

* Good IT skills – knowledge of cloud bookkeeping and accounting packages, eg Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or IRIS etc, although training will be provided where required

You will receive a competitive salary, depending upon experience, and during the 6-month contract, there is the opportunity to further develop your skills and knowledge. This role may develop into a full-time permanent position for the right person, if desired.
