Role- Development Engineer (Mechanical)
Salary- £30,000 – £44,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Type- Permanent
Location- Buckinghamshire
My client works within R&D and they are looking to take on a Mechanical Development Engineer, on a permanent basis, in the Buckinghamshire area.
Development – Optics – Vacuum – Thermal – R&D – Test – High Precision – Mechanical – Jigs & Fixtures – Test Rigs – Science – Lasers – Root Cause Analysis – Manufacture – Experiments
The Mechanical Development Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
BSc / BEng in Mechanical Engineering / Physics or similar
3 or more years’ of industry experience working in similar development focussed role involving the manufacture of electro-mechanical / instrumentation equipment
Strong mathematical and general engineering knowledge
Have the ability to test products, assess risk and recognise any failure modes
Report writing skills
The ability to design and conduct experiments
Excellent knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials
Any specific experience ok optics, scientific instrumentation, high precision products would be ideal to hit the ground running
Be self-motivated with excellent attention to detail
Have excellent communication skills both verbal and writtenThe Mechanical Development Engineer role will involve:
Working within the R&D multi-disciplinary team
Being involved in the product development process
Being involved in design verification
Looking at the products performance parameters at system level
Liaising with the Design Engineers to see where product failure modes may occur
Designing also conducting experiments to test products
Producing summary reports for data analysis
Working with high precision instrumentation products
Constructing the required test equipment
Producing documentation as required
