Our client, a leading Garden Nursery, is seeking a Landscape Supervisor to ensure all landscaping work undertaken is correctly/efficiently carried out in accordance with their Quality Procedures and Specifications and with due recognition of accepted HSAW practices.
This will include completing all paperwork as necessary (Delivery Notes, Timesheets, Site Instruction Sheets, Goods Returned Sheets).

Duties of the role will include:

• Assessing works on site and carrying out a Risk Assessment prior to commencing on site (where this has not been done by others)
• Installing landscape projects referring to relevant paperwork, budgets (time and materials) allowed for and documenting direct input from the Project Designer and Landscape Manager. Sites will be both commercial and domestic, covering all aspects of hard/soft landscaping
• Safe handling of stock at all times
• Supervising the appearance/behaviour/motivation/work ethic of any landscaping staff under your control
• Responsible for the security of company equipment taken to site, documented return and completion of Equipment Defects Report (where necessary) – same applies to hired in equipment
• Ensuring all landscape vehicles/equipment are safe to use at all times whilst representing the company
• Overseeing the same/economical use of all machines used by the Landscape Team in the performance of their duties
• Ensuring the site is operated in a tidy manner, that protection is used when necessary and that the site is left in a tidy/presentable condition in relation to the works carried out and to the satisfaction of the client
• Managing staff timekeeping on site and the time to minimise the need to return to site for uneconomic amounts of work by encouraging staff to stay and complete tasks required
• Giving feedback for reviews, recommending training and development of assistant landscape staff in consultation with the Landscape Manager
• Promoting the company at exhibitions/seminars as required

Special Requirements:

• Thorough knowledge (name, soil requirements and pruning needs) of trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants
• Physically fit, strong and with a liking of working outdoors
• Previous landscape experience (soft and hard)
• First Aid Certificate
• Mini digger license
• Clean driving license
• Good organisation/communication/time management skills
• Previous supervisory training and experience
• Good degree of literacy/numeracy
• Ability to motivate team members
• H&S qualifications
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers
• Ability to work on own initiative and to tight deadlines
• Qualification allied to landscaping (desirable)
• Resident in reasonable distance from the M25/M40 (desirable)
• Trailer towing on driving license (desirable)
• PA1 + PA6 (desirable)
• Rough terrain forklift license (desirable)
• Forward tipping dumper license (desirable)
• Genuine, reliable and with a good work ethic
