Purchasing and Logistics Assistant- required for our client to assist on a Joint Venture for the Geotechnical works on HS2. The Purchasing and Logistics Assistant will be working for a well-known company within the industry and be given expert training and development working alongside the established Purchasing and Logistics team.

The Purchasing and Logistics Assistant will have some knowledge of procurement or experience within a similar role within the construction sector. They will be ensure arrangements are in place to transport rigs and site equipment to site as well as acquire quotes and negotiate prices for goods and services whilst running comparisons, and negotiate on price ethically and appropriately.

Purchasing and Logistics Assistant Position Overview

Assist in the day to day operations of the Central Procurement department
Acquire quotes and negotiate prices for goods and services and support Estimators with acquiring quotes, and offering supplier and material recommendations.
Provision of goods and services within budget on each project and manage invoices
Maintain a good relationship with client and other departments
Monitor and record supplier performance
Support the Procurement & Logistics function as required
Raise and manage orders

Purchasing and Logistics Assistant Position Requirements

Either educated to A-level standard
Proven experience within a procurement or construction environment.
Good commercial awareness and be organised
3 years' experience working as an assistant
Excellent numerical accuracy and communication skills both verbally and written
Exceptional IT skills – Microsoft packages
Previous experience using SAP
Knowledge of purchasing software would be advantageous
Ambition to commence college studies on a purchasing & logistics related course.

Salary up to £25K DOE
26 Days holiday + BH
37 hours per week and overtime paid
