Main purpose of the role:
Supporting the Project Environment Manager in providing support and advice to operational teams on all aspects of environmental management, developing environmental documentation, meeting legal, company and client standards and helping deliver a culture of continual improvement. Understand and work with Client and Regulators to ensure their environmental requirements are complied with. Deliver value adding environment initiatives and support ecological enhancements to the Project. Support on site mitigation and improve sustainability of works.
Key Accountabilities:
* Provide advice and support to operational teams on environmental matters
* Support developing and maintaining site environmental management and sustainability plans
* Maintain relationships with regulators, clients and subcontractors
* Investigate and report incidents to the Environment Manager and Project Management
* Support ensuring the environmental management system is maintained in line with changing standards and legislation and other Client requirements.
* Ensure on site compliance with environmental legislation and coach teams in applying controls and mitigations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support liaising with client, regulatory bodies and subcontractors on matters of environmental management and sustainability.
* Provide expert advice in all matters relating to the operational Environmental Permits and Consents relating to site activities including the development and timely submission of all reports relating to those Permits and Consents.
* Produce and update environmental management plans and environmental risk assessments.
* Provide on-site advice to operations teams on environmental management, compliance and project specific mitigation measures including pollution control and ecology protection.
* Investigate environmental incidents and support the business to implement controls to prevent repeat occurrence.
* Ensure implementation of the project environmental management systems on project sites.
* Provide advice on any changes to standards and legislation and where applicable recommend changes to systems and processes.
*Deliver environmental training, toolbox talks and undertake onsite coaching.
* Support producing internal and external reports as required, e.g. case studies, environmental performance.
* Support and conduct audit and assurance activities including facilitating external audits by clients and certification bodies.
* Other duties as required
Skills Required:
Essential:
* Educated to degree level in Environmental Science or Environmental Management
* Practical experience and knowledge of environmental legislation, ecology mitigation, environmental licences and consent applications
* Experience in environment management, namely compliance with ISO 14001 requirements
* IEMA Membership
* Full UK driver's licence
* Understanding of the construction/civil engineering operating environment
* Literate in MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook and supporting software packages
* Good interpersonal skills
Desirable:
* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
* Knowledge of the Construction Industry
*CSCS card
