Yard Operative / Forklift Driver
This is a full-time permanent position, starting with immediate effect. A counterbalance licence is preferred.
This is a customer-facing role in our busy timber yard. You will be required to load customers with the products they have purchased. Products are picked from a picking note while the customer waits and loading of vehicles is done by both hand and forklift depending on what is appropriate.
You will be required to liaise between the sales staff and the customer’s, so a pleasant and helpful manner is very important, as well as being presentable at all times.
Other duties include showing customers products prior to purchase, maintaining and replenishing stock levels, as well as keeping the retail yard, display areas and car park tidy, presentable and safe.
You will be using a counterbalance forklift, previous experience is beneficial, although training will be given. You must also be comfortable reading quantities and dimensions on order sheets, as well as using a tape measure accurately.

* Performance will be judged on:
* The manner with which customer is dealt and customer feedback.
* Speed of customer turnaround.
* Accurate use of picking notes to ensure the customer gets exactly what has been ordered.
* Adequate stocks maintained in the yard.
* Tidiness of yard.
* Safe working practices.
You will also be expected to work as part of a team and follow instructions from your supervisor.
This can be a demanding role particularly during the spring and summer months and will suit someone who likes to keep busy and enjoys interaction with customers and staff alike, as well as working outside.
Working hours are 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Hourly rate will be £10 per hour
