Transport Planner | Permanent | Chesham
I have a great opportunity for a Transport Planner based in Chesham for a medium sized consultancy. They are looking for a Transport Planner that can undertake option identification and initial assessment of potential schemes across the UK.
They are looking for someone with a good understanding and experience of undertake option assessments and the appraisal of the economic, financial and environmental impacts of proposed schemes. You will be part of a team creating and developing options with subsequent traffic modelling and economic assessment of a number of potential solutions to a transport problem. The team will be carry out a variety of online and public events at which the public will be consulted and their views on the potential options taken into account.
Skills required:
Option identification to be taken to public consultation
Assessment of options in terms of traffic forecasts, economic benefits and environmental impact
Public consultation
Analysis of comments received, refining of assessments and producing an outline business case for a preferred option.They are looking for someone to join the Transportation Team, with the objective of successfully delivering a range of transportation planning projects to public sector clients. You would be involved in delivering all aspects of Highways England Scheme Stages 1 / 2 and WelTAG/WebTAG Stages 1, 2 and 3.
Role:
Produce and review Option Assessment Reports and Business Cases
To have a working knowledge of transport guidance and current best practice (Highways England / WelTAG / WebTAG)
Understanding of transport project development processes
Think at both strategic and detailed levels
To produce high quality project reports, including technical documents
Communicate technical arguments to technical and non-technical clients
Present outputs from studies to a range of audiences
Develop relationships with Highway England / Local Authorities.
Experience needed:
Understanding of the transport scheme appraisal process in the UK, including Highways England Scheme Stages 1 / 2 or WelTAG / WebTAG
Knowledge of economic analysis software e.g. TUBA
Ability to undertake Value of Money BCR assessments for proposed schemes
Experience of liaising and working with partners and agencies
Knowledge/experience over a range of civil engineering and transport disciplines such as: cycle and pedestrian network delivery, public transport networks and interchanges, highways and junctions
Chartered or working towards chartered status.
