My client in Chesham is currently in need of a Mechanical Design Engineer.

My client is a specialist manufacturer of Niche components and supplies into world recognised OEM’s.

The Role:

The Design Engineer will be responsible for carrying out the duties of the Engineering department, including design, research, prototyping, engineering documentation, estimating and process improvement. The successful candidate will report directly to the Production Manager and collaborate with Sales/purchasing and workshop/assembly teams on design projects.

Requirements:

Responsibilities and duties:

* Use CAD software to create models and drawings of products (In particular Solidworks)

* Research new materials and methods of development

* Organise and maintain existing engineering records

* Construct prototypes and confirm designs with design/purchasing team

* Perform physical testing on engineering prototypes

* Ensure components and assemblies follow applicable industry and business standards

Qualifications and skills:

* Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering or related field

* 5 + years’ experience in mechanical design and working in a design environment.

* In-depth knowledge of SolidWorks 3D CAD software

* Knowledge of metal fabrication and assembly processes

* Understanding of current cutting tool technology

* Impeccable attention to detail

* Ability to plan, schedule, co-ordinate and problem solve effectively.

* Would ideally have PDM and toolbox experience.

The Salary for the position is between £35k to £40k depending on experience.
