About this client/child:
Leo 5 is a sweet little boy who loves being with people. He has four limb cerebral palsy with high muscle tone that is painful for him at times. He has no functional movement in his arms or legs and is unable to sit unsupported or weight bear. Leo is a wheelchair user and has hoists for transfers. Leo is non-verbal, but those who know him, can identify when he is comfortable and happy. He is registered blind and has a hearing impairment. Leo has epilepsy and receives all food and fluid via a PEG.
Overview of role:
We have a great opportunity for two *Female Waking Night Carers to join Leo’s team. Nights will always be 2:1 and you will either be working alongside a qualified nurse or an experienced Support Worker. During the nights the care team will administer Leo’s medication, assist with his personal care, reposition him, closely monitor for seizures, administer suctioning, and prepare for the next day (including domestic tasks- cleaning, ironing, washing syringes, preparing food). Leo requires constant supervision and cannot be left alone even for a few minutes. You will have access to a comfortable chair and a kitchen for food and drinks. As two carers are on shift, regular breaks can be taken. The shifts available are Monday to Sunday 9.00 pm to 8.00 am, when applying please confirm your preferred nights. £16.00 gross during weekday and £18.00 gross during weekends.
Who this job would suit:
We are looking for caring and compassionate Waking Night Carers who can work closely with Leo’s parents and Leo’s small team. Candidates should have previous waking night experience and be confident to support a young child with complex needs. Due to the location of the house, it is preferrable to have your own transport.
