Are you looking for an R&D Design role in the Beaconsfield area?
A world leader in the development of scientific instrumentation are looking for an R&D Engineer – Prototyping to join their multi-disciplinary R&D department near Beaconsfield. The R&D Engineer – Prototyping role requires the successful candidate to develop a good understanding of the function and use of my client's product as well as the underlying technology. Technical knowledge and skill should be used to understand potential failure modes and to design a series of experiments aimed at verifying both design assumptions and system performance.
Responsibilities of the R&D Engineer – Prototyping role include:
-To promote product quality both generally and proactively.
-Understand the products performance parameters both at the system and sub-system level.
-Interaction with design engineers to understand potential failure modes
-Design and conduct experiments to test both product performance and the performance of manufacturing fixtures.
-Undertake experimental data analysis and produce summary reports.
-Actively participate in troubleshooting activities including root cause analysis both in the context of new product development and ongoing manufacturing issues.
Skills required for the R&D Engineer – Prototyping role include:
-Commercial experience in the design, troubleshooting and manufacture of electro-mechanical equipment (preferably instrumentation) – My client is open to a wide range of candidates; from an enthusiastic junior who's excited about this line of work/company to a senior candidate with years of experience.
-Experience of working within a structured development program.
-Sufficient Engineering / Physics / Maths knowledge.
-Proven ability to assess technical risk and to recognise failure modes.
-Proven ability to plan a program of work and drive it to completion.
-Proven ability to design and construct experiments.
-Good data analysis and report writing skills.
-ADVANTAGEOUS: Good physics knowledge.
-ADVANTAGEOUS: Knowledge of optics.
-ADVANTAGEOUS: Experience in developing high precision designs.
-ADVANTAGEOUS: Experience of product development within a company making some form of measurement instrumentation.
-ADVANTAGEOUS: Familiarity with product design methodologies.
