You will be one of two maintenance technicians, working as a close-knit team with the Estates officer, providing a responsive & flexible service to our estate and residents. As a small team, the maintenance technicians support all aspects of operations on site. These include care homes, a therapy & arts centre, a hospital ward, MRI unit, and research laboratories, as well as several smaller office buildings and small residential accommodation.

You will be an energetic, hands on and flexible team player. Your ability to turn your hand to any task, from lifting & shifting, to building furniture and all types of maintenance repairs or whatever may arise that day, is essential.

An electrical qualification, and electrical experience, is highly desirable but not essential.

The ideal candidate will live within 30 minutes of the estate, to provide the best possible, call out service – NB call outs are on average one per week.

To support general repairs & a wide variety of general maintenance tasks & porterage in partnership with one other maintenance technician, and under the guidance of the Estates Officer.

To help operate a large & wide-ranging site which includes several care homes, a hospital ward & MRI unit, therapy centre, offices, residential tenanted properties, and external green areas and walkways

Respond to maintenance issues & various helpdesk requests on site, under the guidance of the Estates Officer and in partnership with one other Maintenance Technician, to provide an efficient maintenance service to the whole estate.

Support a wide variety of maintenance jobs on a flexible basis, with significant opportunity to learn and develop new skills in building fabric, plumbing, carpentry, redecoration, basic electrics, equipment repairs, furniture build & repair

Porterage of various around site including driving & responsibility for one of two on-site team vehicles

Set up of meeting rooms, furniture & gazebos for site training, social & community events

24/7 call out availability on a one week on / one week off rota. Our average out of hours call out frequency is once a week, with additional pay for any call out.

Support wider team on checks & inspections (e.g. of fire or first aid equipment) as & when required

Part of wider estates team supporting any emergency situations on site

Ad hoc support to Estates Officer, Head of Estates & Facilities & wider team as required
