LEAD BUYER (Engineering)

Innovative manufacturer is looking for a motivated Engineering Buyer to support the development of key new products and ongoing strategies in an interesting often project focused Buyer's role.

As such, in this Lead Engineering Buyer's role you will have responsibility for direct purchasing within manufacture supporting the Supply Chain Manager to develop the best supply across an electro-mechanical commodity range for production, from mechanical components / assemblies including machined parts, plastics through to electronics.

Key accountabilities for Lead Engineering Buyer will include:
Oversee and manage the best source of supply for both existing and new supply with a view to streamlining, reducing cost and increasing quality levels

Global Supplier Management / Development – Sourcing and identification of new suppliers (including monitoring of current suppliers)
Maximising the availability of material to line via direct line feed systems

Contract Negotiation (covering service levels, lead times through to terms)

Supporting any necessary engineering or supply modifications during the product life-cycle
Ongoing cost reduction strategies to ensure lowest overall cost of acquisition & utilising tools to look at ways to reduce business costs
Offer guidance to more junior members of the team

To succeed in this interesting Lead Buyer's role, you will need:
Proven previous purchasing / procurement experience in a production / manufacturing environment with broad based direct purchasing experience, ideally covering an electro-mechanical commodities.

A working knowledge of MRP / ERP systems and negotiation skills required.

An Engineering / manufacturing purchasing background
The ability to read engineering drawings
