Our client, Europe's leading automotive lighting designer and manufacturer for the luxury and supercar markets, is looking to expand their tooling department with an additional toolmaker to bolster their current capabilities. Reporting to the engineering director, you will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and improvement of all tooling in line with production and customer requirements to support business objectives.
Shift Patterns & Remuneration:
There are various shifts applicable for this position. The base salary for these positions is £35,000 per annum, with an OTE of £45,000 including shift work.
Day Shifts: 08:00am-17:00pm with 13:00pm finish on Fridays
Late shift: 15:00pm-23:00pm (20% shift allowance)
Night Shift: 22:00pm-08:30am (33% shift allowance)Key Responsibilities:
Tooling strip down and diagnosis for repair.
Tooling improvements.
Support the production areas in technical assessment of tooling issues.
Preventive maintenance of tooling
Complete tool reports and ordering of spare parts.
Maintenance data control of moulds.
Polishing of A surface moulds to quality acceptable levels.
Cleaning of tool faces to a quality finish within the moulding machine.
Preventive maintenance of the shop's machinery.
Implement modifications to moulds if applicable.
Fabrication of fixtures and spare parts for tooling.
Liaise with external tool shops.
Maintain Spare parts system
Maintain tooling standards and enhancements.
Interface with New production tooling manager on new tooling.
Comply with the quality and environment standards procedures and instructions.
Involvement in all activities generated as a result of changes, requirements and/or improvement in the process of the applicable area
Work within 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) methodology to maintain workplace to a high standard.Experience & Qualifications:
Considerable previous tool making experience.
Understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes
Planning and prioritising activities.
Understanding of Health & Safety practices.
Understand lean manufacturing.
Able to work with the minimum supervision and to timescales.
Good understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failure/cost of poor quality.
Experience of working to tight production targets.
Understanding of lean manufacturing and 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardise, Sustain) process
