Key Account Manager – Home, Office and Field based
The client:
For over 20 years my client has continued to grow and expand within the technical manufacturing world. They have a successful business model with plenty of services to offer clients. Whilst being a solid SME with a solid reputation, they are part of a much larger European brand.
With rapid growth taken place over the last 2 years with more clients coming on board, we now need a technically minded Key Account Manager to join the team. to maintain, grow and improve existing customer relationships and support the wider commercial strategy.
The role of Key Account Manager
Manage, maintain and develop commercial and technical relationships between my client and its key and strategic customers
Execute agreed account strategies designed to drive profitable revenue growth, existing gross margin improvement, stock reduction/ cash flow improvement and quality performance to meet agreed KPIs.
Develop the account & relationships by networking so as to generate in-group business opportunities via RFQs.
Responsibilities of a Key Account Manager
Effectively manage assigned customers
Relationship & communications management
Design and execution of agreed account plans
Commercial & SLA terms & KPIs
Understanding of the customer’s technical requirements in line with service model and levels.
Work at a detailed/ technical level within the wider business to ensure that Supply Chain/ Production/ Customer Service/ Finance/ Administrative/ Quality teams are able to deliver to the customer’s expectations.
Take full ownership of all aspects of service delivery and be prepared to manage tasks and objectives in a hands-on way.
Maintain close contact with key decision makers
Actively seek potential opportunities for growth within your managed accounts.
Regular visits to each customer & occasional visits to support sales activity.
Timely feedback on all customer activities
Ensure that the requirements of any company policies are fulfilled at any time.
Key Attributes & Competencies
Good technical understanding of materials, engineering and manufacturing processes (in particular electronic, electro-mechanical, metals, plastics & PCBA) is essential
Good knowledge and understanding of a Contract Manufacturing environment is desired
Commercially astute
Demonstrated gravitas and level-headed thinking under pressure.
Strong negotiation skills and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication skills, especially in conveying simple, clear understanding of complex issues. Able to use the right communication tools at the right time.
Excellent organisational skills with keen attention to detail and an ability to quickly prioritise multiple tasks.
Tenacious and resilient with focus on meeting and exceeding objectives and serving the customer well at all times.
An autonomous self-starter who will take ownership of all aspects of the role.
Excels in a team environment.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Experience within a technical manufacturing role
Commercial experience in managing revenue/ margin forecasting and improvement.
Degree level technical/ engineering qualification a strong preference. Significant qualification by experience considered.
Ability to undertake national/ international travel as required.
IT Skills must include MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint). Understanding and experience in using CRM/ pipeline tools preferred.
Full Valid UK Driving License as travel is an essential part of the role. The office is based between Oxford and Aylesbury and we would expect certainly in the early phase, some visits to the office when not out meeting clients.
