Blocktech MEP have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual with either CAD/Design or Mechanical engineering education to join our client as a Junior CAD Technician/Contracts Assistant. You will be asked to carry out responsibilities across three departments to give you a better understanding across the whole business. The idea of the role is to bring in someone looking to build a career and start from the bottom up as many of the senior management have.
We want to hear from individuals who not only have the correct education but also maybe even more importantly the right work ethic and ethos to build and grow with a company.
The ideal candidate will possess good GCSE or A level results or equivalent mechanical engineering/construction qualification. They will also need good IT and Communication skills, be well organised, and have great attention to detail. A Full UK driving licence would also be a plus.
The office-based position will involve projects throughout the UK and candidates should possess the ability to work accurately, efficiently, and independently within a busy multi-disciplined team. Projects values range from £10k to £5M.
Our client are specialist suppliers and installers of pre-insulated heating and cooling distribution pipes. They do all manner of project types, including district heating, community heating, and combined heat and power (CHP) projects, anything from large scale CHP biomass heating to a short run across School playground. Previous projects include Airports, Chemical Process, Hospitals, Hotels, MOD, and Local authority district heating
Key Responsibilities
CAD
* Create sketches using AutoCAD
* Create working drawings using AutoCAD
* Update & edit working drawings using AutoCAD
* Complete As-Installed drawings using AutoCAD
* Create and complete weld schedules using AutoCAD
* Create activity schedules using AutoCAD
* Log and file drawing documents (drawing office filing cabinets)
* Issue drawings to customers/ clients for their information or approval etc
* Print drawings for Contracts and Estimating Departments
* Maintain standard drawings/ details library
* Archive drawings
* Maintain Drawing Office stock levels
* Create O&M manuals
Stock System
Raising and posting stores requisitions – in/out
Produce monthly stock values and issue to Accounts Department
Annual stock revaluation
Maintain stores stock levels
Maintain stock room, keeping it clean and tidy and clear for access
Contracts Department
Start Up Packs – compiling information including RAM;s and COSSH data
Dealing with plant hire duties
Monitoring client installer training schedule for compliance purposes
Procurement of installer tolling & PPE
Producing new contract files
Moving contract documents from buff files into lever arch files
Set up contract folders on server
Compile basic elements of risk assessments prior to engineers’ input
Compile basic elements of method statement prior to engineers’ input
Load electronic file with safe systems of work, COSHH data and assessments sheets for engineers to check
Compile installer installation summaries for engineers to check
Ensure test certificates and as fitted drawings are received from sub-contractors
Raising pipe supplier / merchants’ orders for engineers
Raising plant equipment orders for engineers
Off hiring of plant equipment
Checking order confirmation against material orders
Check delivery notes against orders
Checking Invoices
Filing
Archiving
General Duties
Package materials for sending
Booking in collections
Clearing out the office
In return the successful candidate will benefit from:
An annual starting salary of £20’000 plus pension scheme
Full in-house Training
Office Hours of 8.45am to 5.00pm Mon- Thursday with Friday 9.00am to 4pm.
25 Days per year annual leave plus 8 statutory bank holidays
