Blocktech Mep are looking on behalf of their client for a Mechanical Estimator/Bid Manager/ Sales Engineer. The role is predominately to carry out Sales Estimator duties and associated functions from initial enquiry through to tender submission. Liaising with clients to ensure all requests are met on time, always ensuring high accuracy of costs, and maximising order potential through negotiating and liaising with clients.
The office-based position will involve projects throughout the UK and candidates should possess the ability to work accurately, efficiently, and independently within a busy multi-disciplined team. Projects values range from £10k to £5M.
Our client are specialist suppliers and installers of pre-insulated heating and cooling distribution pipes. They do all manner of project types, including district heating, community heating, and combined heat and power (CHP) projects, anything from large scale CHP biomass heating to a short run across School playground. Previous projects include Airports, Chemical Process, Hospitals, Hotels, MOD, and Local authority district heating
Necessary Requirements or Attributes for successful application:
* A minimum of three years’ experience within a similar role or from a similar technical sales background.
* Possess a good mechanical & technical knowledge preferably in mechanical services or pipework background
* Ability to build client relationships and to introduce new clients for growth of sales
* Possess a positive approach & excellent customer service skills
* Self-motivated and desire to work hard in a busy office environment
* Require excellent organisation and planning skills
* Polite manner and good interpersonal skills
* Able to use own initiative to solve problems and deliver solutions
* Experienced and confident in both face to face and telephone customer handling
* Be tenacious and determined to meet deadlines.
* Solid materials and special processes knowledge in the engineering markets
* Excellent bid presentation skills both verbally and orally
* Ability to deliver presentation to Directors, Clients and Teams.
Key Responsibilities within role:
* Ensuring all tenders are priced accurately and within deadline
* Determine full extent of customer requirements and specification & drawings
* Carry out site survey visits, if required
* Design pipe routes using manufacturers recommendations & guidelines
* Carrying out materials take-offs from tender drawings
* Producing estimates using bespoke computer software package
* Assisting in the completion of tender prequalification questionnaires (PQQ’s)
* Deal with suppliers with regards to prices, terms & conditions, and availability.
* Input, update and edit enquiry/customer/supplier/price records within bespoke computer software packages
* Answering internal and external technical and product queries
* Assist with growing sales within an existing client base in addition to new clients
* Carry out sales quotation follow up calls to ascertain competitiveness of quotations and to determine as much detail about the project as possible
* Negotiate quotation prices with customers and costs with suppliers & subcontractors
* Providing clients with technical and sales brochures and information & data
* Providing technical submittals for approval
In return you will receive:
A salary between £45’000 and £55’000 depending on experience.
