Accounts/Bookkeeper – circa £25,000 – Buckingham
We are looking to recruit an Accountant/Bookkeeper to complete a number of financial tasks within the finance department of a successful construction business.
Ideally you will have an AAT qualification (not essential) and have experience using SAGE.
Duties will include: –
Bank Reconciliation –
* Check bank current account entries to bank statements
* Print unreconciled bank receipts and payment reports
* Review report for anomalies or unexplained items
* Agree bank balance adjusted for unreconciled items to bank account and nominal ledger
* Send agreed figures to accountant as soon as possible after the end of the month
Sales Ledger –
* Print list of balances at month end
* Agree listing to trial balance
* Maintain record of retentions
Purchase Ledger
* Print list of balances at end of month
* Agree listing to trial balance
* Reconcile balances to supplier’s statements
* Review balances over 3 months old
* Review listing for debit balances, investigate and obtain invoices where appropriate.
CIS/Tax/VAT
* Reconcile CIS liability to CIS control to nominal ledger
* Complete CIS return and submit to HMRC
* Advise accountant of the amount to be paid VAT
* Print VAT return and detailed workings
* Agree sales figure to list of invoices and increase in nominal ledger sales account for the month
* Review input tax claimed
* Ensure overhead input VAT is coded to residual
* Ensure input and output VAT agrees to nominal
* Send copy of final return to accountant for submission by middle of following month
* Mark VAT transaction as reconciled Bank
* Load and submitted the monthly supplier payment via the bank
* Sub-contractor applications/invoices
* Verify with HMRC tax status of any new contractors Payment Certificates
* Enter invoices/payment certificate on sage
